The Velvet Bakery was founded in 2010 with a simple yet heartfelt mission: to share unforgettable sweets made with care, tradition, and love. Owner Anna grew up with a passion for baking and quickly became known among friends and family as “the baker” everyone counted on for special occasions. Encouraged by the joy her desserts brought to others, Anna turned that lifelong passion into The Velvet Bakery—creating a place where quality, tradition, and community come together.

Proudly serving the Oak Lawn, IL community and beyond, The Velvet Bakery has become known as one of the best Polish bakeries in the Chicagoland area. We specialize in beautifully crafted wedding cakes, birthday cakes, graduation cakes, communion cakes, and holiday cakes, each made from scratch using the freshest ingredients. Our bakery also offers a wide variety of traditional sweets, including paczki, homemade butter cookies, kolaczki, strudels, cannolis, éclairs, pound cakes, and so much more—bringing classic flavors and cherished recipes to every generation.

Our most popular flavors include chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry & Cream, along with customer favorites like cookies & cream and raspberry mousse.

How much notice do you need for a custom cake order?

We typically ask for at least 5–7 days’ notice for custom cake orders. Larger or more detailed designs may require extra time, so it’s always best to order early when possible.

Do you provide delivery and setup for events?

Yes! We offer delivery for larger cakes and special events. Please contact us directly for availability and delivery fees based on location.

Do you offer online ordering?

At this time, we don’t take online orders, but you can browse our menu on our website and place your order by phone or email. We’re happy to help you finalize the details.

Are you goods Gluten free or Vegan?

We currently do not offer gluten-free or vegan cakes, but we’re happy to recommend other treats from our menu that might fit your needs.

Are your goods Nut free?
